The Cornwall Royals topped the Vail Tigercats, 6-3, at Vail Grounds. Cornwall third baseman Jaime Tate was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher John Mills in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Aaron Daniels took the loss. Dan Kleinman closed out the game, earning his 6th save.

With Cornwall leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Tate batted against Vail pitcher Aaron Daniels. Tate hit a fastball to left for a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Royals on top, 3-0.

Tate told a Cornwall Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The Royals, at 19-11, lead by one game in their division.
