Vail Nets 4-3 Win Versus Royals

The Vail Tigercats had to overcome a fine effort from Cornwall pitcher Rob Stech to win, 4-3, at Vail Grounds. Stech went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Vail reliever Brent Holt was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Kevin McDonald took the loss. At 20-12, Vail is in first place in the Western AA Central Division.
The Tigercats were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 26-year old left fielder Danny Gaskins landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch fastball from Ricky Alvarez into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Vail Grounds denizens into a frenzy and sent the Tigercats home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
After the game, Vail manager Mike Alexander applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
