Toronto and Detroit put this game in the books despite some rain.

Moises Cruz, who leads the NC in quality starts with 5, never let the Giants get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Trash Pandas to a win, 5-0. Cruz, now 2-3, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs.

Toronto won the game in part because of Jaylen Taylor. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Trash Pandas ahead, 1-0. For the game, Taylor had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Toronto manager Walt DeRosier.

The Giants fall to 10-19 and continue to sputter in the early going.
