Sonoma and Vail played a hard-fought contest.

Sonoma Scorpions starter Ricky Fernandez pitched a strong game against the Vail Tigercats at Vail Grounds, leading the Scorpions to victory, 3-2. Now 21-6, the 2021 Scorpions have been phenomenal so far.

Tom Coon delivered a big hit for Sonoma. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Sonoma manager Elias Nunez. "It's usually not just one thing."
