The Hialeah Firecats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Adam Mahoney into a win. Instead, the Cornwall Royals prevailed, 3-2. Mahoney threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The winner in relief was Ryan Simpson. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. The defeat makes the Firecats 8-15.

Joe Gillis, who is tied for 3rd in the W-AA in stolen bases with 6, aided the Cornwall cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
