Scorpions Suffer 2-1 Road Loss
|
Joe Underwood had a strong outing for the Miami Boll Weevils against the Sonoma Scorpions at Ballpark of Miami. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Underwood got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Mark Crocker was credited with the save for Miami, his 5th of the season.
The Scorpions had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Boll Weevils going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old left fielder Justin Coker came to the plate. Coker hit a 2-run double on a 1-1 changeup from Sonoma hurler Steve Oswald. It was Coker's 1st double of the year.
Coker said his team "played with a purpose."
The loss puts Sonoma at 11-11.
