Despite the rain, the fans at Ballpark of Miami enjoyed a good ballgame.
Miami beat London at Ballpark of Miami, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Josh Hulbert. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dave Vondrasek picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Marty Carpenter suffered the loss. Chris Zich earned the save for Miami, his 1st of the year.
Hulbert had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Marty Carpenter, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Boll Weevils a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Hulbert.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Hulbert.
Miami, now 12-6, has played well in the early going.
