The Vail Tigercats bumped off the Augusta Capitols, 8-3, at Vail Grounds. Nick Raiff hit 1 single and 1 double. He also had 3 RBI. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by Vail might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 12-8.

The Capitols had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Tigercats going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Juan Rubio came to the plate. Rubio hit a 2-run double on a 0-2 fastball from Augusta hurler Nick Horrocks. It was Rubio's 3rd double of the year.

"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Rubio told the Vail Herald.
