Detroit picked up a win at Ballpark of Detroit, bumping off the Maine Pines, 8-5. Pitcher Nick Turpen was a major reason the Giants emerged victorious. The loss puts Maine at 18-11.

Ben Shafer was 1-2 with a walk against the Pines. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Detroit in front, 4-3.

"Winning is contagious," said Shafer. "We're looking forward to the next game."
