Behind an impressive start by Earl Gomez, Cincinnati beat Hamilton, 2-1. Gomez, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. The Bombardiers, now 11-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Cincinnati used a clutch at-bat from Sam Frederick to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bombardiers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Cincinnati manager Nick Pauli.
