Cornwall starter Brian Gay put the Sonoma offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Royals to a 4-1 win. Jeremy Sufka closed it out for his 4th save. The Royals keep rolling, raising their record to 10-6.
Tony Ortiz had a big run-scoring double for the Royals in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cornwall leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Ken Springer and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 2-0.
"I believe in our guys," said Cornwall skipper Keith Young. "I like the energy they're playing with."
