Cornwall Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Myers
Cornwall catcher Tim Myers pounded Miami Boll Weevils pitchers at King George Park, but it was not enough to keep the Royals from falling, 10-8. Myers hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Brent Kuest earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. John Keefe nailed down his 3rd save.

Miami used a clutch at-bat from Dave Garcia to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Boll Weevils ahead, 10-7. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"We ground out the win," said Garcia. "That's all that matters."

For the Royals, the loss makes them 6-10.
