Cornwall Nerve Tested in 5-4 Win
The inspired effort of Sonoma right fielder Tyler Reese was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Cornwall Royals. Reese went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Cornwall reliever Chris Porter, now 1-0. The loser was Phil Gregoire. The Royals, with just their 5th win in 17 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

Joe Scharf was the walk-off hero for Cornwall. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Royals left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Scharf said.
