Bombardiers Take Down Royals, 3-2
|
Starting pitcher Heath Maughn gave the Cincinnati Bombardiers a rock-solid effort. The Atlanta, Georgia native helped his team defeat the Cornwall Royals, 3-2, at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Now 5-8, the Royals have gotten off to a poor start.
Cincinnati got a critical at-bat from Adam Gonzalez. The third baseman stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.
"Bottom line," said Cornwall skipper Ivan Cabrera, "we didn't play well enough to win."
