Aztecs Take Down Gangsters, 6-3

The Mexico City Aztecs knocked off the Chicago Gangsters, 6-3, at Gran Estadio Azteca. Danny Velasquez was a big reason Mexico City won. The shortstop was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win belonged to Paul Ganley in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Andy Bennett took the loss for Chicago. Mexico City has a record of 17-12.
Had Corey Cawley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cawley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Aztecs.
Mexico City manager Pete Clark commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
