Fleet Rally to Win
The San Diego Fleet took Syracuse pitcher Chris Dries's best shot and still were able to claim a win at San Diego Stadium. The final score had San Diego getting past the Scorpions, 6-1. Dries went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 3. Justin Pierce earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record is now 4-1. The setback makes the Scorpions 11-18.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jason Cox came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Syracuse pitcher Jonathan Marich, he hit a 2-0 curveball for a 2-run triple. It was a game-changer, putting San Diego on top, 3-1.

Cox attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
