Augusta Capitols starter Mal Burkes was on his game, helping his team beat the Sonoma Scorpions, 4-1. The save went to Jose Cabral, his 1st this season. The Scorpions drop to 6-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2022 season.

Augusta used the timely hitting of Eric Carpenter to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Capitols ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Watch and learn," said Carpenter. "This is what good pitching looks like."
