Augusta Roughed Up By Firecats
|
Due in large part to second baseman Chris Gaus, the Hialeah Firecats sunk the Augusta Capitols, 8-2. Gaus went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Danny Lanzetta got the win, improving to 1-2. He held the Capitols to 2 runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Augusta is 6-6 after the defeat.
Matéo Thomas had a big 2-run double for the Firecats in the bottom of the second inning. With Hialeah leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firecats ahead, 3-0.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Gaus.
