Tigers Take Down Firecats, 3-2
|
The London Tigers got a stellar effort from pitcher Jimmy Grams, helping London score a win over the visiting Hialeah Firecats, 3-2. The win went to Jonathan Parker in relief, making him now 1-0. Gilberto Vergara took the loss for Hialeah. Paul Kreger nailed down his 2nd save.
Alex Mendoza was 1-3 with a double for London. The 27-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gilberto Vergara. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"Jimmy pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said London manager Jose Torres.
London is off to a hot start at 9-2.
