Boll Weevils Coast to 12-0 Victory
|
The Miami Boll Weevils thumped the Vermont Milkmen, 12-0, at Ballpark of Miami. Jordan Barrera was a big reason his team got the win. Barrera was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. Jon Caruso earned the win for Miami. He lasted 6 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Vermont falls to 1-7.
With Miami leading 8-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Barrera came up to bat against Vermont pitcher Mark Kurzawski. Barrera hit a fastball to left-center for a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Boll Weevils on top, 12-0.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Barrera. "But I like how we're playing right now."
