Tigercats Earn Late 2-1 Win
|
In a tight contest between the Vail Tigercats and the Stockton Ragin Cajuns, Dionísio Manteigueiro was the determining factor. The Vail right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Jeremy Dawson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Earning his 5th save for Vail was Kyle Schroeder.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Chris Boyd came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Stockton pitcher Bobby Bierman, he hit a 0-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Vail on top, 2-1.
"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Manteigueiro said.
The win gives Vail a record of 7-1.
