The Cincinnati Bombardiers defeated the Cornwall Royals, 4-2, in Western AA action at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Cincinnati pitcher Bill Samples had a standout performance. Lance Goecker earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. With the win, Cincinnati elevates its record to 4-1.
Mark Rivera helped out the Cincinnati cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a double.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Rivera said.
