Firecats Prevail, 5-4, Over Cincinnati
|
The Hialeah Firecats topped the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 5-4, in Western AA action at Firecats Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hialeah pitcher Jason Brokaw. Brokaw, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 1 run. The win puts Hialeah at 4-3.
The Bombardiers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Firecats going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old second baseman David Bornman came to the plate. Bornman hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 slider from Cincinnati hurler Jorge Santos. It was Bornman's 2nd home run of the year.
"Good teams find a way to win close games," Bornman said.
