Boll Weevils Upend Tigercats, 7-1
|
Jon Caruso propelled his team to victory over the Vail Tigercats. The final score was 7-1, Miami. Caruso got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. Brent Kuest closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Miami used the timely hitting of Lance Ricke to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Boll Weevils ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"That was a really good outing by Jon," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
The win gives Miami a record of 3-0.
