Bombardiers Nipped by Bulldogs, 4-3
|
Though he had a terrific game, Phil Williams could not prevent his team, the Cincinnati Bombardiers, from absorbing a loss. Hamilton won the game, 4-3. Williams was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. Jesus Garcia snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Eddie Sarabia suffered the loss. Chris Johnson sewed up the save, his 1st.
Brian Parker had a big solo home run for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Hamilton leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Sarabia and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Bulldogs on top, 4-2.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cincinnati manager Carlos Almendarez. "But we decided not to take it."
Hamilton now has a record of 1-1.
