Cavalry Get Hard-Earned Win
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The St. Louis Cavalry topped the Hialeah Firecats, 6-5, at Cavalry Ballpark. St. Louis third baseman Michael Wallace was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. St. Louis reliever Jim Unknown was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jesse Tuuri took the loss.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With St. Louis trailing 5-4, Wallace hit a curveball from Jesse Tuuri for a 2-run single. In the blink of an eye, the Cavalry had a walk-off win.
"It feels good to get this one," Wallace told the St. Louis News.
Hialeah, with the loss, is 1-1.
