Chiefs 5-2 Winners Over Alcoa
|
The Mescalero Chiefs defeated the Alcoa Millionaires by the score of 5-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Bryan Felkins. Felkins went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Chiefs on the day. Mescalero pitcher Josh Lienhard got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jay Altieri got the loss. Scott Clary wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.
The Millionaires had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old catcher Branden Barr came to the plate. Barr hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch slider from Alcoa hurler Jay Altieri. It was Barr's 5th home run of the year.
Said losing manager : "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
With the win, Mescalero raised its record to 76-63.
