Polecats Send Corpus Christi Home with 2-1 Loss
|
Libertyville Polecats starter Conroy Hill pitched his team past the Corpus Christi Mermen, 2-1. Hill got the win, improving to 6-9. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. The save went to Gabe Thomas, his 2nd this season.
Libertyville used a clutch at-bat from Tommy Burton to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Polecats ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Arturo Colon.
With the win over Corpus Christi, the Polecats improved to 61-79.
