Late Rally by Mermen Secures 3-1 Win
|
Corpus Christi Mermen pitcher Nate Holyfield was in fine form, leading his team past the Boise Dread Kings, 3-1. Holyfield got the win, improving to 12-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Kevin McGaha earned his 6th save in 10 tries.
Tyler Reese delivered a big hit for Corpus Christi. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mermen ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Losing feels worse," said Boise manager Sean Drummond, "than winning feels good."
Corpus Christi has now won 3 in a row.
