Fire Beaten By Shiners, 10-2
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Charleston Shiners take on the San Francisco Fire.
The Charleston Shiners topped the San Francisco Fire, 10-2, at Ballpark of Charleston. Charleston first baseman Cole Calkins was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. David Edgemon picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 4-1.
Charlie Paquin cracked a home run off Chris Verellen in the bottom of the fifth. His solo blast put the Shiners on top, 3-2. In all, Paquin had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
Said losing manager Jim Clarke: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
The loss has the Fire at 15-13.
