Rotters Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The Riverside Rotters rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Mark Herrera to a win, beating the Winchester Mountaineers, 1-0, at Mountaineers Park. Andy Shoemaker recorded the save, his 2nd. The second-place Rotters have won 4 in a row.
The Rotters got a big hit from right fielder Chris Russell. Facing Winchester pitcher Jaiden Harvey in the top of the sixth, Russell pounded a run-scoring double to center. His 15th double of the season put the Rotters ahead, 1-0.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Rotters manager Hermenegildo Fernando, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
