Rebels Edge Past Wildthings, 5-4
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Oscar Garcia, the Jackson Rebels defeated the Washington Wildthings, 5-4. Garcia went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Rebels. Jackson reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Aaron Hawkins was tagged with the loss. Jackson, at 59-78, sits in 5th place in the Eastern AA Northern Division.
Danny Apodaca was the walk-off hero for Jackson. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rebels pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Apodaca.
