9-2 Triumph Runs Rebels Streak to 6 Games
|
The Jackson Rebels stopped the Rohnert Park Cougars, 9-2, behind an impressive performance from Lance Chmiel. The 24-year old left fielder made life miserable for Rohnert Park pitching. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Tom Krasner picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 8-12. Jackson has now won 6 in a row.
The Rebels got a big hit from second baseman Aarto Turkula. Facing Rohnert Park pitcher Dave Flores in the top of the ninth, Turkula pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 12th home run of the season put the Rebels ahead, 9-2.
"It was a solid team effort," Chmiel said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
