A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Traverse City Bears and Mesa Razor Sharks.

The Traverse City Bears defeated the Mesa Razor Sharks, 11-5, at Greensboro Grounds. Dustin Merkley was a standout performer for Traverse City. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 5 he knocked in. The winner in relief was Emilio Ampuero. He is now 3-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.

Merkley had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the fifth for the Bears. Coming up with the bases loaded and Traverse City trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Merkley said. "We did a good job of that today."
