The Mescalero Chiefs faced a tough opponent in Libertyville pitcher Nate Billesbach, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Field of the Polecats by a final score of 4-2. Billesbach went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Tom Thompson got the save, his 5th in 5 chances. Mescalero has a record of 71-61, placing them third in the Eastern AA Southen Division.

Mescalero used a clutch hit from Kevin Schneider to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Mescalero skipper Hunter Santiago.
