Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Running Rebels
|
The Fresno Running Rebels topped the Libertyville Polecats, 3-1, in Eastern AA action at Field of the Polecats. The standout performance belonged to Fresno pitcher and Unknown, native Jim Unknown. Unknown went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. The win puts Fresno at 47-85.
Fresno used the clutch hitting of Jim Anderson to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Running Rebels the lead, 3-1. For the game, Anderson had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Anderson told the Fresno Chronicle.
