Boosted by the 3-hit performance of John Lopez the Winchester Mountaineers defeated the Washington Wildthings, 11-0. Winchester pitcher Ronnie Roberson got the win. He's now 12-9. Mike Kehrt was tagged with the loss. The Mountaineers, at 93-39, have now won 5 straight.

Edward Salgado had a big 2-run home run for the Mountaineers in the top of the fourth inning. With Winchester leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Kehrt and swatted a home run to center. It was his 17th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mountaineers ahead, 4-0.
