Winchester pitcher Ben O'Halloran had a large part in his team subduing the Rohnert Park Cougars, 4-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The Mountaineers lead the Eastern AA Southen Division by 24½ games.

The Cougars had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mountaineers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old catcher Mike Hankins came to the plate. Hankins hit a grand slam home run on a 1-2 fastball from Rohnert Park hurler Eric Brouwer. It was Hankins's 11th home run of the year.

"Feels good to get the job done," Hankins said after the game.
