Goldsmith Hits 2 home runs in Mountaineers Win
|
The Winchester Mountaineers dealt the Libertyville Polecats a 5-2 loss at Mountaineers Park. Chris Goldsmith was the star on offense. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Jonathan Malcolm. His record now stands at 13-3. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits for the Mountaineers. Travis Espinoza converted his 18th save in 21 tries.
The Mountaineers got a big at-bat from catcher William Corrado. For the game, Corrado went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Winchester a 2-0 lead.
