Traverse City Upended, 6-4, by Washington
|
Washington and Traverse City took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Frank Willi impressed in the 6-4 Washington win over Traverse City. Willi, who leads the E-AA in home runs with 35, went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jim Unknown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
With two out in the top of the seventh, Harry Wells had a game-changing hit. The Wildthings right fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Emilio Ampuero, making the score 6-4, Washington.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Willi told the Washington Today.
Despite the win, Washington still has a pathetic 30-94 record.
