Bears Get 6-1 Win Versus Washington
|
The Traverse City Bears faced a tough opponent in Washington pitcher Jim Patterson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Greensboro Grounds by a final score of 6-1. Patterson went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ahmed Harris earned the save, his 3rd in 3 tries. Traverse City is now 56-69.
The Bears got a big at-bat from second baseman Jim Ells. For the game, Ells was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 28th double of the season gave Traverse City a 2-0 lead.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said Washington skipper Bob Platter.
