Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Hideout.

The Boston Whistlers beat the Chicago Gangsters, 12-9, at The Hideout. Mike Fowler starred for Boston. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Gangsters fall to 11-16 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2023 season.

Boston needed the clutch hitting of Austin Alpers to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Whistlers on top, 11-9. For the game, Alpers had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Fowler told the Boston News.
