Razor Sharks Suffer 7-3 Setback
|
The first-place Winchester Mountaineers took on the Mesa Razor Sharks in front of a spirited crowd.
Bill Dennis knocked in 3 runs to help Winchester beat Mesa, 7-3. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native tallied 1 single and 1 home run. Jerome Abney earned the win to go to 13-2. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Steve Gryder picked up the save for Winchester, his 24th of the year.
Dennis contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Winchester get the win.
Winchester manager Mitchell Young was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
The loss makes Mesa 58-66.
