Mountaineers Slap 2-1 Loss on Alcoa
The Alcoa Millionaires got a superb performance from pitcher Gabe Mondragon. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Winchester. The Mountaineers won the game, 2-1. Mondragon threw 5.0 innings of 0-hit ball. Casey Abbott, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. Jaheim Johnson, credited with the save, is now 17 for 17 in save opportunities.

Ben Blake drove in one run for Winchester. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Blake had a clutch at-bat. Facing Alcoa hurler Nick Alcorn, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Mountaineers a 2-1 lead.

"Tough loss," said Alcoa manager . "This one will sting for a while."

With the win, Winchester pushed its record to 86-35.
