The 5-3 Mesa win over Boise was due in large part to John Richins. The Razor Sharks second baseman was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Daniel Yanez notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Victor Benavidez collected his 18th save.
With Mesa leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Richins batted against Boise pitcher Alex Lozada. Richins hit a fastball to right for a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season put the Razor Sharks on top, 4-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Richins.
Mesa is now 67-50, Boise 60-57.
