Mountaineers Send Boise Home with 3-2 Loss
|
The Winchester Mountaineers beat the Boise Dread Kings, 3-2. Winchester pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Scott Sauer led the way. Sauer, the winner, moves to 9-6. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Jaheim Johnson closed the game out for Winchester, earning his 15th save.
Ben Blake came through with a big-time hit for Winchester. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's good to win," Blake told the Winchester Observer. "I like to have fun doing it."
The win elevated the Mountaineers to 84-33.
