Adam Matthews, who is tied for 9th in the E-AA in innings pitched with 126.0, never let the Mermen get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Dread Kings to a win, 4-1. The winner was Matthews. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Josh Edwards. Luke Getts recorded the save, making him 13 for 15.
Jon Aranda had a big 2-run home run for the Dread Kings in the bottom of the third inning. With Boise leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from Josh Edwards and swatted a home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dread Kings ahead, 4-0.
In postgame remarks, Aranda hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
The win gives Boise a season record of 66-48.
