Barr Powers Running Rebels to 9-0 Win
|
A good performance from catcher Branden Barr helped the Fresno Running Rebels defeat the Alcoa Millionaires, 9-0. Barr was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Running Rebels. Matt Thomas, the winner, improved to 3-6. He held the Millionaires to no runs on 3 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. The 5th-place Running Rebels improved to 52-62.
In the bottom of the second, Fresno right fielder Jared Scafidi had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Scafidi stroked a 2-run single to left-center. It made the score 5-0, Fresno. For the game, he went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Barr, "one at-bat at a time."
