Mermen Field was the site of a competitive game between the Corpus Christi Mermen and Mesa Razor Sharks.

Despite a great performance by Corpus Christi catcher Brent Haynes, the Mesa Razor Sharks defeated the Mermen by the score of 5-3 at Mermen Field. Haynes was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Mesa is now 55-58, Corpus Christi 56-57.

Mesa used a clutch hit from Pete Beauford to snatch the win. The designated hitter belted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Razor Sharks ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Beauford told the Mesa News.
