The Winchester Mountaineers faced a tough opponent in Aurora pitcher Efrain Herrera, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Mountaineers Park by a final score of 4-3 in 11 innings. Herrera went 5 innings and allowed no runs. The Mountaineers improved to 78-33.

The decisive blow was delivered by Joe Martin in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Mark Garrett to win the game for Winchester. The home crowd went nuts.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Mitchell Young, the Winchester skipper. "This one tested us."
