Whistlers Get One-Run Win at Chicago
|
The Chicago Gangsters and Boston Whistlers provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Boston Whistlers picked up a win at The Hideout, knocking off the Chicago Gangsters, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jay Helm played a key role in the triumph. Helm, now 2-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run.
A.J. Cook contributed to the Boston win with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Cook. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
The loss makes Chicago 11-15.
