The Mescalero Chiefs got a superb performance from pitcher Ted Kelly, but the Alcoa Millionaires still won the game, 5-1. Kelly threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 run. Jay Altieri, now 3-12, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The loss makes Mescalero 61-45.

Alcoa took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Rob Larsen hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Millionaires in front, 3-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Alcoa manager . "It's usually not just one thing."
