Cougars Deal Bears 8-5 Defeat
|
Cougars shortstop Justin Ottinger left his mark on his team's 8-5 win over the Traverse City Bears. Ottinger, the 5th overall pick in the 2025 draft, went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times for Rohnert Park in the contest. Orlando Roque, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-14. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Jim Hudson, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Rohnert Park used a clutch at-bat from Travis Stroupe to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Cougars ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Traverse City skipper Zach Hildebrant.
Traverse City is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 11 games.
