The Winchester Mountaineers used a great performance from Denny Mason, who leads the E-AA with a 1.52 ERA, to beat the Riverside Rotters, 1-0, at Rotters Ballpark. The winning pitcher was Mason, now 8-2. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The Mountaineers have an impressive 76-30 record.

John Hall, who is tied for 10th in the E-AA in bases on balls with 47, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hall contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Winchester up, 1-0.
